Entering Our 15th Year!

Please join us as LCAV marks its 15th Anniversary as the country's only public interest law center dedicated exclusively to providing legal assistance to prevent gun violence.

Each year, our community gathers to reflect on LCAV's present, remember its past, and ensure its future. Since the tragic shooting 15 years ago at 101 California St. in San Francisco, the LCAV community has worked tirelessly -- and successfully -- to strengthen gun laws across the country, supporting our mission to prevent such violence from recurring. Our anniversary dinner is also a time to salute the vision and power of those in the community who serve as catalysts for change, and to honor lawyers and other leaders who dedicate themselves to preventing gun violence.

Walter E. Dellinger, III to Give Keynote Address

This year, we're pleased to announce our keynote speaker is Walter E. Dellinger, III. Mr. Dellinger is Chair of the Appellate Practice at O'Melveny & Myers, and is the former acting Solicitor General for the 1996-97 term of the U.S. Supreme Court. During that time, he argued nine cases before the Court, the most by any Solicitor General in more than 20 years.

Earlier this year, Mr. Dellinger represented the District of Columbia on a pro bono basis in the U.S. Supreme Court case of District of Columbia v. Heller, a Second Amendment challenge to the District's 32-year-old handgun possession ban. This marks the first time in 70 years that the Court will consider the scope of the Second Amendment. A decision in this landmark case is expected in June and will have a profound impact on America's gun control debate.
